Alkyl dimethicone consists of an alkyl group grafted on the silicone backbone. Alkyl dimethicone enhances the compatibility with many organic based cosmetic oil ingredients, e.g. UV filter. The addition of alkyl group to silicone backbone leads to changes of surface tension with different oil systems with varying polarity.
