Characteristics of organic silicone resin

Hits: 162 img

Organic Silicone Resin (also known as polysiloxane) is a kind of polymer which is composed of silicon atoms and oxygen atoms alternately linked to form a skeleton, and different Organic groups are connected with silicon atoms. Organosilicone resin structure contains both "organic group", and "inorganic structure", this special composition and molecular structure makes it set organic characteristics and inorganic function in one.
One of the most outstanding properties of silicone resins is excellent thermal oxidation stability. After heating at 250℃ for 24 hours, the weight loss of silicone is only 2%-8%, polycarbonate is 55.5%, polystyrene is 65.6% and epoxy resin is 22.7%. After heating at 350℃ for 24 hours, the weight loss of organic resin is 70% ~ 99%, while the weight loss of silicone resin is less than 20%.
Another outstanding property of silicone resins is excellent electrical insulation, which can be maintained over a wide range of temperatures and frequencies. The electrical breakdown strength of general silicone resin is 50kV/mm, the volume resistivity is 1013 ~ 1015 ω •cm, the dielectric constant is 3, and the tangent value of the dielectric loss Angle is about 10-3.
Silicone resins also have outstanding weather resistance, even under intense ultraviolet radiation is resistant to yellowing, is any kind of organic resin to match. In addition, silicone also has waterproof, salt spray, mold and other properties
