Silicone oil is temperature-sensitive in its chemical properties, but it will deteriorate after long-term use due to oxidation and invasion of foreign impurities. Because of the high price of silicone oil, it should be recycled and recycled separately.


Waste silicone oil is usually recycled in two ways. Waste silicone oil in electrical equipment is mainly treated with adsorption refining, which can be refined by contact with silica gel, activated alumina, activated clay, activated carbon and other adsorbents. After filtering out the waste adsorbent, the silicone oil can be purified by vacuum degassing at 50-110℃ (such as 95℃ degassing) or nitrogen stripping at 20-80℃.


Another method, the liquid waste silicone oil with solvent vapor treatment, using solvent condensation dissolution, the waste silicone oil in the impurities dissolved, extracted, and form a miscible silicone oil and another liquid phase. Polychlorinated polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PCBs) in waste silicone oil can be dissolved and removed in this way. The treated silicone oil also contains trace solvents, which can be removed by vacuum drying. Hydrocarbon solvents and chlorinated hydrocarbon solvents are commonly used.
