Biocompatibility
After extensive testing, liquid silicone rubber has proved excellent compatibility with human tissues and body fluids. Compared to other elastomers, liquid silicone rubber resists bacterial growth and does not contaminate or corrode other materials. LSR is odorless and can be sterilized by a variety of methods, including steam autoclave, ethylene oxide (ETO), gamma, electron beam and many other technologies.

Liquid silicone rubber parts can withstand extreme temperatures, making them ideal for components under the hood and near the engine. Parts made by liquid silicone rubber injection moulding are flame retardant and do not melt, which is a serious problem for parts made by plastic injection moulding.

Chemical resistance
Liquid silicone rubber is resistant to water, oxidation and certain chemical solutions, such as acids and bases.

High temperature resistance
Compared to other elastomers, molded silicone can withstand a variety of high/low temperature limits. For example, dow Corning's continuous Silastic LSR is stable over a temperature range of -60 °C to + 180°C.
