So what is silicone oil? Silicone oil is a kind of polyorganosiloxane with different polymerization degree chain structure. It is a kind of silicone product with a wide range of products and a wide range of applications. Classified according to the different substituent groups on the polysiloxane chain. Silicone oil can be divided into: methyl silicone oil, hydrogen silicone oil, vinyl silicone oil and polyether modified silicone oil, phenyl silicone oil, hydroxy silicone oil, fluorosilicone oil, amino silicone oil, ethyl silicone oil and other types.

Due to the difference in the substituent groups, there are many types of silicone oils, which exhibit different boiling points and decomposition temperatures, such as boiling points, some more than 100 degrees, and some more than 300 degrees. The general silicone oil decomposition temperature is above 300 ° C, and the highest can reach 500 ° C. The product of the decomposition of silicone oil at high temperatures is silica (SiO2).


According to the above analysis, if the VOCs contain silicone oil, even if a trace amount of silicone oil is introduced into the catalyst, the following effects are theoretically caused. 1. If the boiling point of the silicone oil is high and the decomposition temperature is also high, it will adhere directly to the surface of the catalyst, causing the catalyst to be deactivated. 2. If the boiling point of the silicone oil is low, decomposition occurs at the catalytic temperature to form silica. The impact is small. There is no research report on whether VOCs catalyst can promote the decomposition of silicone oil.


If the activated carbon adsorption-concentration-catalytic combustion technology is adopted, since the boiling point of the silicone oil is high, it will be difficult to desorb on the surface of the activated carbon, so the influence on the subsequent catalytic combustion is relatively small.
