Introduction to the University
Nanjing University of information engineering is a national "double first-class" construction university and a key supporting University for the construction of Jiangsu high-level university. Founded in 1960 in response to the national strategy of new China and the needs of national economic construction, the school is subordinate to the Meteorological Bureau of the central (Military Commission), formerly known as the school of Meteorology of Nanjing University. It was independently established as the school of Meteorology of Nanjing University in 1963, listed in the national key university in 1978, and renamed Nanjing University of Information Engineering in 2004. Since 2007, it has successively realized the joint construction of Jiangsu Provincial People's government, China Meteorological Administration, Ministry of education and State Oceanic Administration. Now, it is a central and local co built University with Jiangsu Province as the main management.
The school is located in Jiangbei new district, Nanjing, covering an area of about 2000 mu. At present, there are more than 30000 full-time undergraduates, nearly 4000 postgraduates and 1700 international students.
The school has distinctive school running characteristics. Atmospheric science has been selected as the national "double first-class" construction discipline. It ranks first in the first-class discipline evaluation of the Ministry of education in China and has won a + rating. Meteorology is a national key discipline. Four disciplines, including Earth Science, engineering, computer science, Environmental Science and ecology, rank in the top 1% of ESI disciplines in the world. Introduction to some specialties
Atmospheric science: including atmospheric science and applied meteorology. Adopting the "2 + 2" training mode, the students will participate in the professional diversion in the fourth semester after completing the major basic courses, and formally enter the professional learning stage in the fifth semester. The major of atmospheric science consists of five course modules: meteorology, atmospheric physics, atmospheric detection, atmospheric environment and hydrometeorology. The students who are transferred to the major of atmospheric science participate in the corresponding course modules and are managed by the professional college according to the course modules. Two modules of Applied Meteorology and public meteorological service are selected for the major of Applied Meteorology, and the students who are transferred to the major of Applied Meteorology participate in the corresponding modules.
Applied Meteorology: Training objectives: this major aims to cultivate application-oriented professionals with basic knowledge, basic theory and basic skills of Applied Meteorology, who can engage in scientific research, teaching and business management in the fields of weather forecast, urban meteorological forecast, agrometeorological service, meteorological product development and application, climate resource utilization, meteorological disaster prevention and mitigation, and ecological environment monitoring and evaluation.
