Recently, sexual assault cases have burst out frequently at home and abroad, which has attracted the attention of netizens. Last week's "four-year police case of sexual assault on adopted daughters by executives of listed companies" sparked a heated debate about "sexual crimes against children".
In 2015, a report submitted by Agricultural University of China to Mingjiao university to the World Health Organization showed that 9.5% of Chinese girls and 8% of Chinese boys had suffered some form of adult sexual assault, which means that about one in every 10 minors has faced sexual assault. In the face of frequent sexual assaults, some people call for the introduction of "chemical castration" and "electronic foot cuffs" to follow the example of foreign countries.

We don't just lack sex education

"Sex" is like a great beast in the Chinese speaking environment. Parents, teachers and so on all avoid talking about it.

Some parents will reply with lies or reprimands when their children ask about gender knowledge:

In fact, this kind of abstinence sex education has been proved to be ineffective, even with potential risks. Abstinence education not only conveys incorrect medical knowledge, but also leads to negative gender stereotypes and marginalization of sexual minorities, according to a retrospective study in the United States.
Moreover, the lack of sex education will make many children and young people only obtain gender knowledge through uneven channels, which may be wrong. These wrong knowledge and ideas not only make people unable to protect themselves effectively, but also bring shame and frustration.
UNESCO is promoting "comprehensive education" on a global scale, covering a wide range of topics: relationships, values, rights and culture, gender, violence and security; health and well-being skills, human body and development, sexual and sexual behavior, sexual and reproductive health.

From the age of five, children need to have access to specialized sex education appropriate to their age and level of development.
From physiology to culture, from concept to social norm, are all part of "sex". According to the survey data, one in ten children may have experienced sexual assault before the age of 18, and 70% - 90% of them are committed by acquaintances.
If there is no correct concept of sex, when sexual assault occurs, the victims often dare not or do not know how to make a voice, which makes the infringer more likely to go unpunished, even repeatedly.
