Abstract: the main purpose of this paper is to analyze the characteristics of the campus changes since the founding of Nanjing University of information science and Technology (NUIST) by using the satellite image data. Five cloudless US reconnaissance satellite images (decrypted in 1995) between November 1964 and December 1970 are analyzed. The location accuracy of the images after geographical registration is 4.8 to 7.8 m. The buildings, roads and water bodies in the image are clearly visible. By comparing these black and white reconnaissance satellite images with Google Earth color images from 2006 to 2018, it is found that the current campus area is far larger than the old campus; in the old image, the length of the old playground runway in Zhongyuan is 298 m, in 2006, the length of the old playground runway in Google Earth image is 406.5 m, the center of the playground moves 9 m eastward, 47 m southward m. Both reconnaissance satellite image and Google Earth image are based on unified coordinate system for geographical location correction. See the attachment for relevant images
