IOTA556 (Phenyl Trimethicone) is a polyphenyl methyl siloxane that is easily emulsified and has good compatibility with cosmetic ingredients. It is resistant to oxidation and provides non-oily, easy-to-spread emolliency, allowing natural skin transpiration through a soft, invisible film. It can be used as a water repellent additive and to reduce the tackiness and stickiness of organic ingredients in formulations such as skin lotions and creams, suntan lotions and sprays, and pre-shave lotions. It can also be used as a hair gloss agent in hair sprays, conditioners, and grooming aids.
