Last week, the price of metal silicon fell and trading was thin. The decline was mainly due to cancelled warehouse certificates, weaker downstream demand, and falling prices of organic silicon and polysilicon. From the supply side, the number of furnaces stopped in the southwest increased this week compared to last, while some companies had plans to stop furnaces. In the northwest, production continued to pick up pace and return to normal. Looking at demand, the price of organic silicon fell slightly as companies reduced their operating rates and some factories started maintenance work at the beginning of the month, leading to a decline in operating rates. Polysilicon prices fell slightly this week, but there were no plans to reduce production and there would be new production capacities coming online. Aluminum prices remained stable as manufacturers bought according to their needs. Overall, the total demand for metal silicon is expected to remain slightly increasing.
