IOTA BJ550 Polyphenylmethyldimethylsiloxane is a multifaceted fluid with diverse applications. As a lubricant, it serves as the base oil for high-temperature ball bearing greases, lubricating oil for high-temperature instruments, and impregnating oil for sintered bronze bearings in small electric motors and mechanisms operating in extreme ambient temperatures. As a heat transfer medium, it finds use in heat-treating baths for specialty metals, heat exchange fluids for research apparatus and instrument calibration baths, and as heat transfer oil in capacitors, transformers, and various electronics. Additionally, its suitability as a thermostat fluid, capable of withstanding temperatures ranging from -40°C to 315°C, makes it an excellent choice for clean thermostat systems. With its colorless appearance, a specific gravity of 1.068 at 25°C/15.6°C, and a viscosity stability of less than 5%, IOTA BJ550 demonstrates remarkable properties that ensure a long usable life of 60 months when stored at or below 60°C in unopened containers. Importantly, while highly effective in its intended applications, this product is not intended for medical or pharmaceutical uses.
