Hydroxy silicone oil, a specialized type of silicone material, is produced through the polymerization of siloxane monomers. Its molecular structure is unique, featuring hydroxyl groups at both ends, with the structural formula HO-Si(CH3)2O[Si(CH3)2O]nSi(CH3)2-OH. Chemically known as a, w-dihydroxy polydimethylsiloxane, it is also referred to as 107 silicone rubber when its viscosity exceeds 2500mPa.S. This material not only retains the general properties of methyl silicone oil but also introduces reactive hydroxyl groups, enabling its use in creating new materials or crosslinking into elastomers (or membranes).
