1. Basic Composition and Physical & Chemical Properties
IOTA 279, also known as epoxy phenyl silicone oil, is a solvent-free reactive silicone modifier developed for high-performance polymer resin modification. Its main component is double-terminal glycidyl phenyl trisiloxane with a pure molecular structure and no solvent additives, which avoids residual solvent interference in resin performance. The product appears as a colorless to pale yellow transparent liquid with uniform texture and good fluidity, enabling uniform dispersion and fusion with various resin systems without stratification or precipitation.
It maintains stable technical indicators under standard room temperature conditions. The refractive index is fixed at 1.474 at 25℃, the viscosity ranges from 15 to 30 cst, and the epoxy equivalent is controlled between 260 and 340 g/equ. The stable parameter system ensures consistent modification effects in batch production and meets the precise processing requirements of high-end industrial materials. Different from physical blending additives, its unique double-terminal epoxy group structure allows it to participate in resin curing and polymerization reactions chemically, forming stable covalent bonds with resin substrates and realizing molecular-level structural optimization.
2. Comprehensive Resin Performance Optimization Capabilities
IOTA 279 serves as an essential component for epoxy resin and an efficient reactive modifier for polyurethane and polycarbonate, solving multiple performance defects of traditional resins. Traditional cured epoxy resin has high rigidity but insufficient flexibility, prone to cracking and brittle damage during long-term service. After modification with IOTA 279, the flexibility of epoxy resin is significantly improved, and the internal cohesive energy of the resin system is adjusted to relieve internal stress concentration and enhance the structural stability of finished products.
This modifier optimizes the high and low temperature adaptability of resin materials, enabling modified resin products to maintain stable mechanical structures under alternating temperature environments and reduce performance attenuation caused by temperature changes. In addition, it can endow resin materials with reliable electrical insulation properties, suitable for electronic packaging and electrical insulation component manufacturing. Its silicone molecular structure enhances the material’s resistance to atomic oxygen erosion, water resistance and weather resistance, supporting long-term stable use in outdoor, aerospace and other harsh service scenarios.
3. Flexible and Compatible Application Processes
IOTA 279 features strong process compatibility and can adapt to the production processes of different resin systems without large-scale equipment renovation. For epoxy resin modification, it can be directly added to the prepolymer and cured synchronously with the substrate, with simple operation and low application cost. For polyurethane modification, it can react with isocyanate groups through amine chain extension or acid ring-opening to complete integrated forming and modification. For polycarbonate materials, it supports two modification modes: in-situ copolymerization modification in the polymerization stage and physical addition modification in the molding processing stage. The diverse and flexible application methods adapt to different production processes of enterprises and realize efficient upgrading of resin material performance.
